US 200-year porn sentence stands

While it might seem harsh in one point. The man was guilty and to tell you the truth I don't care to have him or any other Paedophile walking around my streets. Prisons are for reforming people, sometimes they must be for housing them until they die. He might become reformed in the prison, but by the sound in the article he had no remorse. This man has probably abused children, if not he encouraged the abuse. Either way it is appropriate.
After all we are commanded to protect the innocent

==================================
Arizona has the toughest child abuse laws in the US. The US Supreme Court has refused to hear an appeal by a high school teacher from Arizona sentenced to 200 years in jail for possessing child pornography.
Morton Berger had claimed the sentence was so disproportionate to his crime it breached the constitution.
If the 52-year-old had been tried in a federal court or lived elsewhere he would have received a lighter sentence.
But he was living in Arizona when he was caught with thousands of images of child abuse on his computer.

Stark differences
The state has the nation's toughest laws on child abuse and exploitation.
Indeed, the prosecutor had asked for a 340-year sentence but the trial judge imposed the minimum of 10 years for each of 20 images - to be served consecutively for a total of 200 years without the possibility of probation, early release or pardon.
Mr Berger's lawyers asked the Supreme Court to hear an appeal.
They argued the sentence was wildly disproportionate - much longer than that for rape or even second degree murder and claimed it amounted to cruel and unusual punishment.
The state of Arizona argued each image of child abuse was a separate crime so the sentences had to run consecutively.
The Supreme Court refused to hear the appeal and gave no reason but the case has highlighted stark differences in sentencing policy across the US.

Unequal Justice

Call me crazy, but this civilian did not get justice.I really can't comment on what the Marines deserve. Justice is ultimately served by God, but a mere 7 years for taking the life of a man and the impact on his family is a joke, and reveals how little we value life today. In years past the would have been imprisoned for life or executed for murder.

Ultimately there excuse is that they were doing there orders is meaningless as a solder also has to determine right and wrong. They were doing what they wanted, because it served there ego.

Marine withdraws Iraq murder plea

A squadmate said Cpl Thomas was a key player in the eventA US marine who was the only member of his squad to plead guilty to murder over the death of an Iraqi civilian has asked to withdraw his plea.
Cpl Trent Thomas made his request via his lawyer at the last minute, as the court was preparing to sentence him.
He was a member of a unit accused of killing Hashim Ibrahim Awad, 52, in the town of Hamdaniya in April 2006.
Three marines and a Navy medic pleaded guilty to lesser charges related to the incident. Others await trial.
Military judge Lt Col Tracy Daly granted Cpl Thomas' request after warning him he was creating a "very sticky problem" for the court, reports say.
Cpl Thomas was the first member of his unit to come forward with his version of events about the killing.
The unit was reportedly searching for an insurgent and took Mr Awad when they failed to find their target.
He was put in a hole and shot in the head 10 times. The troops then placed a gun and shovel by his body to make it seem as if he had been an insurgent planting a roadside bomb.
Forced march
At a sentencing hearing for Cpl Thomas on Wednesday, one his former squadmates testified that the marine corporal had been a key player in the killing.

Other US investigations
Petty Officer Melson J Bacos said Cpl Thomas and another marine, Cpl Marshall Magincalda, had entered Mr Awad's home and come out with him several moments later.
Cpl Thomas held Mr Awad during much of the forced march to the place he was killed, Bacos said.
He said squad leader Sgt Lawrence Hutchins III then fired three shots into Mr Awad's head followed by at least seven more rounds to the head from Cpl Thomas.
Bacos was sentenced to 10 years in prison for his part in the killing but is expected to serve only a year in exchange for his testimony against his former squadmates.
Cpl Thomas pleaded guilty last month to murder, conspiracy and kidnapping, among other charges.
But his lawyer asked that the plea be withdrawn on Thursday, only a day before the judge was expected to pass sentence.
"You are creating a very sticky problem for the court," Col Daley is reported to have said.
"He has already told me that he knew what he was doing is unlawful."
But his lawyer, Victor Kelley, said Cpl Thomas now believed he had lawful authority for his actions.
The case is one of several in which US troops are accused of killing Iraqi civilians.

Child Porn & "Every Child a wanted child"

I find it ironic that the argument for abortion is "every Child a wanted child. So we will kill the ones we don't want has fallen on its face when we look at the mass abuse of children today in our world. People trafficking is horrendous, even worse, it seems is some of the Child abuse/Porn that distributed around the globe. The US which is one of the major advocates for the “every Child a Wanted Child” is also the largest provider at 51 % of the total.

“In a recent report, the organisation said that 51% of child abuse content was
traced back to the US and 20% to Russia. This compared with less than 1% of
potentially illegal content that appeared to be hosted in Britain.”

It should be no surprise that the child is disregarded as insignificant. Now that Children are discarded, and only those that are “wanted” are allowed to live, the next step will be to remove those people from society who are not wanted. Sounds something like Nazi Germany.
I think I will start to do research on politicians who obstruct laws that would increase the prosecution of Child Porn/Abuse including Abortion. I guess I will have to start with Nancy Pelosi as she seems to want to suppress anyone who will disagree with here.

According to investigators in Austria, some 2,360 suspects from 77 countries downloaded horrific images of young children being sexually abused and raped.
They were believed to have been shot in Eastern Europe and uploaded to the web in Britain, posted on a Russian website hosted by an Austrian company.
Investigators say that in a 24-hour period they recorded more than 8,000 hits on the site from computer address in countries from America to Algeria and Macedonia to Mexico.
Some of the material was free but the Russian site was charging $89 (68 euros, £45) for access for a "members' only" section.
Routine
Experts have described this type of criminal activity as fairly routine. They say there has been a growth in technologically sophisticated pay-per-view sites. The sites are difficult to detect and close down because of they way in which they move around the world.
